Loose-weave natural jute burlap sold in 15-foot rolls, in widths from 36 to 72 inches. Built for the garden: the open weave lets light, air and water straight through while still holding warmth and soil in place.

What it's for

Raised bed liners. Lay in the base before filling. Keeps soil from washing out through gaps while draining freely, and decomposes into the bed over a season or two rather than needing lifting.

Seed and frost cover. Lay directly over sown ground. Seeds germinate through it, birds stay off, and the fabric buffers overnight temperature swings. Rain passes straight through, so no need to lift it to water.

Erosion control and slope stabilisation. Pin across banks and freshly seeded ground. It holds soil through heavy rain while grass roots take hold.

Weed suppression and mulch blanket. A biodegradable alternative to plastic sheeting — no microplastics left in the soil, no removal job in autumn.

Winter protection. Wrap shrubs, roses and young trees against wind burn and sunscald.

Loose weave vs tight weave

This is a loose, open weave — the right choice for anything where air and water need to pass through freely. If you need a denser fabric that blocks light or holds its shape under foot traffic, look at our tightly woven 10 oz burlap rolls instead.

Handling

Secure edges with landscape staples every couple of feet; wind will lift an unpinned sheet. Shake out loose fibre before laying. Store dry between seasons — damp jute mildews. 100% natural, biodegradable and compostable.
